About the Role
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing and supporting our network infrastructure. As a technical leader within the organisation, this role ensure stability, scalability, and security of our network environment whilst delivering high-quality solutions to meet both internal and external customer needs. Specifically, this role will:
- Manage and troubleshoot complex network issues, design and implement network solutions, coordinate network changes and oversee connectivity and performance across multi-vendor environments.
- Proactively identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effective of network services.
- Work closely with the service desk team, system administrators, and product developers and provide expert-level guidance on connectivity and infrastructure.
- Support the design and build of security gateways and the implementation of remote and mobile secure communications.
- Create, revise, update, and maintain documentation of the environment and operational procedures.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in gateway environments, including proficiency with LAN and WAN fault diagnosis and repair.
- Proficiency with infrastructure devices, including switches, routers, wireless access points, controllers and firewalls.
- Understanding of risk management and Australian Government information security requirements.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and proactive problem-solving skills with an analytical mind and the ability to pick up new technologies and concepts quickly.
- Experience proactively identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance operations.
- Experience managing tasks, priorities and meeting deadlines in fast-paced, changing environments.
Qualifications and Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this position you must:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in technology with a focus on network engineering and/or industry experience; and
- Have or be working towards professional certifications (i.e. CCIE, CCNP, JNCIP-ENT, Network+, WCNA etc); and
- Be an Australian citizen; and
- Hold an AGSVA NV2 clearance or higher.
Note: This role includes an on-call component and occasional after-hours work to support business and client requirements, which may include evenings and weekends on a rotating basis.
